SHATALOL
Video Installation 9' 52''
Guwahati, India, 2016
Shatalol is a video installation that aims to explore both visually and socially the contrast between the two sides of the city of Guwahati, divided by the Brahmaputra river. Images and voices are used to illustrate the explosion in urban development, in contrast to the traditional aspects of this society. Religion and society are the backdrop to a city which seeks to confront its dire economic needs by emulating the western model of development, for better or worse. The project was developed thanks to the Guwahati research program.
Shalatol screened at the Good horn, good brakes, good luck exhibition at the Serra dei Giardini of Venice and in the Assam State Museum.
